Our ScienceThe power of human embryonic stem cells can only be realized by restricting their multi-potent nature, such that they give rise to a single human cell type in high purity. The generation of a single human cell type in high purity (>90%) provides a quality research tool and a potential therapeutic product. This represents the greatest challenge and the greatest opportunity for the stem cell field. California Stem Cell has created proprietary technologies to generate several key human cell types in high purity from hESCs. We can generate virtually unlimited quantities of human motor neurons, human cardiomyocytes, human sino-atrial node cells, and human neurons, in an FDA compliant manner that renders these populations clinically relevant. These human stem cell products will serve a variety of unmet market needs. CSC will realize the full commercial potential of these human cell types in the fields of cellular replacement-based human therapies, high throughput screening of conventional drugs using human cell substrates, predictive toxicity of conventional drugs using human cell substrates, and experimental research tools. |
