The CSC R&D facility in Irvine, CA is a fully GMP compliant R&D laboratory. In it, breakthroughs leading to the efficient and scalable production of clinically relevant cell populations are made and tools necessary for these discoveries are developed.

Among the tools developed in the pursuit of CSC goals are:

• Cell Lines - California Stem Cell has developed a repository of federally registered hESC lines for use in therapeutics to treat multiple chronic diseases and as tools for innovative research.
• Stem Cell Media - Extensive refinement of CSC’s stem cell growth media has resulted in recipes that contain the minimum number of reagents required for stable, long term hESC expansion. The fewer components in a media formulation, the easier it is to qualify the media for clinical use.
